Andrea’s planning to say “I do” in First Lady-inspired suit. Finding one in her budget and size has been a challenge. Here’s what she wrote:

    Hey Chica,

I wanted to see if you can help me out!  My future hubby and I are going to have a quick and fun justice of the peace wedding, and have a brunch with friends later.  I love vintage clothing, and I’ve been looking for some vintage style suits to wear.  Think Jackie O.  But of course I don’t have a Jackie O. budget.  I don’t want to spend more than $400 on a suit.  I’d like one in ivory or silvery grey.  I’ve been looking, but haven’t really found anything.  I found this. But of course it’s on clearance and doesn’t have my size (16).  I was wondering if you in all of your wedding wisdom could help me out.

    Thanks,
    Andrea Lemoins

CAN’T AFFORD IT:  CAN’T WEAR IT:

Tahari Tweed Suit ($210 at Neiman Marcus)

    GET OVER IT:

Albert Nipon Ruffle-Front Textured Suit ($228 at Neiman Marcus)

Tahari by ASL Plus Size Skirt Suit, Jacket & Lace Pencil Skirt ($340 at Macy’s)

Ann Taylor Cotton Linen Ailey Jacket ($218 at Ann Taylor)

Nine West Women’s Black/ White Skirt Suit ($108.99 at Overstock)

Jessica London Scalloped Skirt Suit ($59.99 at OneStopPlus.com)

Nine West Women’s 2-piece 3-button Jacquard Skirt Suit ($75.99 at Overstock)

Anne Klein One Button Blazer & Pencil Skirt ($154.96 at Macy’s)

    Tahari 2-Piece Skirted Suit ($169.99 at Dillard’s)

Andrea, there were tough aspects of this challenge. I threw in some white and darker options. Every option is in your budget and available in your size. Some stores offer pieces to mix and match, like Banana Republic  or White House Black Market. Consider buying pieces separately if you love a cut of a certain jacket but they don’t offer the matching skirt in your size. Hopefully you find something that works for you. Please be sure to share what you ultimately choose. Happy shopping!

Now this is different: a request for the men! I was wondering if you could suggest some budget friendly options for suit/tux rentals. My fiancé is planning on buying a suit, something along the lines of a skinny fit modern suit with a vest and all. We set aside a few hundred dollars in our budget for him to buy a suit, but we can possibly ask…
