Broke-Ass Tag: Wedding Dress under $300

Good morning BABs! Another bride has fallen in love with the style of designer Berta’s gowns, and CAI/GOI is here to help! Mandy J wrote on this post asking for help:

Absolutely in love with Berta style 15-101 (long sleeves, backless, godet train, geometric inspired details). My budget is $3k and under. Thank you!!

Happy to help, Mandy! Berta has a unique modern, yet romantic style, and I see why so many of you find inspiration from her designs.  I’ve focused my search on gowns with a backless design with sleeves, and kept an eye for any geometric or modern patterns to the lace details. I’ve also tried to stick with gowns with slimmer silhouettes, that aren’t full ballgown skirts. Here we go!

Berta; Style 15-101; Fall/Winter 2015

Soho gown; $2,070 by Grace Loves Lace

Blanc gown; $2,250 by Grace Loves Lace

Mai gown; $2,450 by Grace Loves Lace

Style 694; $2,500+ by Demetrios

Deirdre gown; $1,000+ by Maggie Sottero

Karina gown; $2,000+ by Theia

Monica gown; $1,550 at BHLDN

Style 7702; $1,200+ by Ti Adora

Lenora gown; $1,000+ by Watters

My Love gown; $1,750 by Etsy seller WhiteMeadowBridal

And this one doesn’t have sleeves, but the geometric lines look stunning and you might be able to add sleeves or a shrug…

Style 6492; $1,500+ by Lillian West

I hope we’ve found something with that modern geometric look you found so inspiring with the Berta gown.  Until next time!

Got a gown that you just can’t get off your mind? We’re happy to help you get over it! Just tell us in the comments below! Please remember to include the budget you’re working with so we can find you the best alternative for you. Please be aware, though, that because you guys love this column so much, we can often build up quite the queue and it may be a while before we can get to your dream dress. Rest assured, though, Team Broke-Ass is on the case!

*As always, please do your own research before buying a gown online. Team Broke-Ass is here to provide you with inspiration and resources, but it is up to the consumer to know what they’re purchasing.

Dresses in SF Fit ShopIt’s a good week in Weddingland, if for no other reason than our homies at ModCloth *finally* dropped their full line of wedding gowns and dresses (did ya catch the announcement we made on Facebook?) and it does not disappoint. From long lengths to the shorter, retro-vintage styles ModCloth has become so synonymous with, the 44-piece collection includes some classic silhouettes as well as slightly trendier styles. And it’s pretty much all $300 or less, which should make some Broke-Ass hearts flutter with happiness. Of course, it being Friday and all, I’d be totes remiss if I didn’t go ahead and share my five favorite gowns with y’all — which, by the way, was no easy feat to narrow down. I decided to stick with longer lengths, because when it comes to shorter dresses I could waste hours just ogling (I’m a huge fan, after all) and I also feel like these five are really worthy of a little highlighting:

Modcloth Fete of the Union Dress

Fete of the Union Dress, $150

ModCloth Grand Staircase to the Entry Dress

    Grand Staircase Entry Dress, $250

Modcloth Mesmerize to the Occasion Dress

Mesmerize to the Occasion Dress, $250ModCloth Velvet Rope Ready Dress

    Perfect, As Planned Dress, $175

Guys, check out the back of this dress, too … holy swoon!

Man, did I have a challenge for the Can't Afford It? Get Over It! post this week! Alyssa commented on this CAI/GOI post with the following: "Love this feature -- it's given me so many links to check out in my search for the perfect dress! Unfortunately, I've fallen in love with this ModCloth dress which is sadly discontinued. I love the lace and the halter top neckline.…
