At one of the many bridal shows I attended, I saw a local jewelry store was doing a trunk show for wedding rings, so I thought we would check it out.
We started with mine because I have a uniquely set engagement ring that has a design in the profile, so most wedding bands would completely obscure those details. Also, it’s not quite a solitaire because of the setting so a normal band would not sit flush against it. I was really hesitant to get a curved band, though, because then I could never wear it alone if I needed or wanted to. I tried on lots of bands with different designs, but everyone kept suggesting the curved style. After looking at probably 30 different rings, I did settle on a curved style, but decided to go with two very skinny curved diamond bands, so I can wear one on either side. It just looked funny with one, so I splurged a bit.
My fiance doesn’t wear any jewelry or accessories. A belt, maybe, but only when it serves a purpose. He doesn’t even wear a watch! Due to the physical nature of his job, he can’t wear a ring while he is working, as it would be a hazard is it were to catch in any machinery he uses. With all of that, I assumed he would go for the most simple band they had to offer. Boy was I wrong! After waiting somewhat patiently while I looked around, he was excited for his turn. I turned around to find him asking about rose gold and different designs! Who was this man?! He ended up choosing a two-toned, white gold and rose gold band that he custom designed, combining a few different elements from different styles he liked!
He hasn’t shown much interest in most of the planning process, but we left the jewelry store and he was pumped up! He keeps asking if he can wear his ring now, even though the wedding isn’t for a few more months. He loves that thing. I guess it made it real to him. It was nice to see him excited about it. Sometimes we need a reminder that we’re both getting married even though it often seems like the bride-to-be is the only one really engaged in the process.
