Hello gals & gents. I’m back to recant a bit of my experiences in the Twin Cities with my partner, Kristofer. He’s spent a lot of time there, being a Minnesota native himself, but it was my first time. Below are just a few of the places we hit.

Wise Acre Eatery is a great place for lunch — they’re known for their INSANELY amazing bacon.

The beautiful McNeely Conservatory at the Como Zoo & Park in St. Paul. You guys, there’s a sloth. Enough said.

The set of King Lear at the Guthrie. Such a cool, modern theater!

Traveler Tip: The Guthrie is linked into a bunch of the hotels in the area, so you can get discounted rates if you book in advance.

On our way to lunch, we stopped at Minnehaha Falls and enjoyed this crazy waterfall. It’s surrounded by a really beautiful park, with a scenic trail for runners and a great spot for picnics. (If you’re digging my yellow jacket, you can pick up a similar one from Old Navy here.)

Other places I recommend?

Shopping: Calhoun Square
Italian Food: Bar La Grassa
Museum: Walker Art Center (An AMAZING gift shop)
Coffee: Dogwood Coffee Co.
Brunch: French Meadow Bakery & Cafe
When You’re Starving: Brasa Premium Rotisserie

Enough of that, let’s get to the packing.

If you’re going in the winter, expect to see a lot of snow and get chilly gusts. Though cold, it’s a beautiful time of year in Minneapolis and St. Paul and there’s still oodles and oodles to do. In the warmer months, you’ll still want to make sure you pack a sweater and a light jacket just in case a night chill blows in. Also, it’s wise to bring a raincoat, as the weather has a tendency to be pretty wet year round.

For the Cold

Levi’s Trucker Jacket, $200 from Men’s Wearhouse

Lems Boulder Boot, $115 from Huckberry

Wallace & Barnes Workshirt, $88 from J. Crew

For Warmer Times

8″ Club Shorts, $19.99 from Target

K-Way Anorak, $49.98 from Huckberry

Saucony Originals, $26–$65 from Amazon

If y’all want to see more of our excursions in Minnesota (travels to Duluth & Grand Marais, the grandness of Lake Superior, playing slot machines way out in the woods …), follow me on Instagram (@jellybeanmagician)! Also, I love recommendations, so let me know if you have haunts you like to frequent.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a social media rock — which, amen, sister! — you might have picked up that I’m in Puerto Vallarta checking out some of the amazing places to stay and things to do if you come here for your honeymoon or destination wedding. And y’all, stay tuned because I’ve got so much fun stuffs for you! But, first, I thought I’d share some of the little extras that have made my trip here a little more seamless just because I remembered to throw these bad boys in my bag.

    Swim Spray

    Swim Spray, $11.95

This stuff is like the miracle cure for pool and ocean junkies like myself. Especially blond pool and ocean junkies like myself. It helps repair and protect your precious tresses against the caca in chlorine and the sea.

    Downy Wrinkle Releaser

Downy Wrinkle Releaser (travel size) $1.40

Those purdy dresses will look way less awesome if they’re full of wrinkles. This shit will help without having to bust out the cumbersome iron sitch in your hotel room.

    NeverHungover12PackImage

    Never Hungover, $17.94 for 6

You know what sucks? Feeling like shit any morning of your honeymoon. But when you’re on your honeymoon, there’s no reason for you to not throw back a few or indulge in some serious tequila tasting. Never Hungover helps ease that pain by making a pre-emptive strike.

    ID-ON Stor, $18

Stash your room key and a credit card in your phone case and leave the rest of your stuff in the safe. You’re going to want to bust your phone to take pics, but you don’t need everything else all of the time.
Hollywood Deodorant WipesHollywood Deodorant Wipes, $7.20 for 5

I don’t know about y’all but this bitch is sweaty. And I get SUPER self-concious about it, so I always try to be sure to have some deodorant thing around. These are especially fab if you’re going from swimming to sight-seeing and dinner without much time in between.

I packed up and left my hometown of Jackson, Wyoming, a bit over a year ago, shortly after I decided that I also needed to end my marriage. I put what I had (and actually wanted) in a U-Haul and made the nearly 1,600 mile trek to Louisville, KY, with my dad behind the wheel. I had secured my very first apartment all for myself,…
