Welcome BABs! We have another CAI/GOI for you today with a gorgeous Rue de Seine gown inspiration. Reader Haley commented on this post looking for a boho dress for her wedding:
Rue de seine Blake or Raven for under $1000. I like the bohemian, festival, hippie style.
Okay, Haley — I hear you on these great Rue de Seine gowns! These gowns are both lovely and have a airy boho feel to them. I’ll focus on finding similar boho, hippie gowns with a crochet lace look to them.

Got a gown that you just can’t get off your mind? We’re happy to help you get over it! Just tell us in the comments below! Please remember to include the budget you’re working with so we can find you the best alternative for you. Please be aware, though, that because you guys love this column so much, we can often build up quite the queue and it may be a while before we can get to your dream dress. Rest assured, though, Team Broke-Ass is on the case!
*As always, please do your own research before buying a gown online. Team Broke-Ass is here to provide you with inspiration and resources, but it is up to the consumer to know what they’re purchasing.
Shopping for a wedding dress is one of the huge milestones of the wedding planning process — and can often be intimidating and overwhelming. This can be even more true when you’re a Broke-Ass Bride and are operating on a v. tight budget. While some broke-ass couples may allocate more for the wedding gown (because there are some of us who put that as a high priority, and good on ya, girl!), there are also a number of us who cringe at the thought of dropping some serious dough on a dress they may only wear once. Putting a strict threshold on the amount you’re willing to shell out for your gown may limit your options — you can pretty much count out that schmancy bridal salon — it does open up the doors for some creative shopping. For this week’s Five for Friday, I dug up some perhaps surprising places where you can get your wedding dress online, and for a measly $500 or less.
While Asos is often known as an affordable stop for adorable clothes for work and play (guys, they have a great selection of extended lines, too — plus, tall, petite and maternity), they’re also a total hidden gem for gorgeous dresses that can easily translate to wedding attire. They have a huge selection under $500, which should leave enough room in your budget to accessorize the hell outta yourself!
I mean, is anyone really surprised ModCloth made this list? Their super cute vintage styles are everything a Broke-Ass Bride could dream of — and in recent months, they’ve expanded to include very wedding-specific styles, all at a price point that would make any BAB happy.
While Shopbop may be better known for high-end designers and labels, if you dig deep enough into their Wedding Boutique, you’ll find a plethora of gorgeous frocks that totally fit a Broke-Ass budget. With names like Badgley Mischka, Rachel Zoe and Jill Stuart, you can totally rock a designer gown without forking over too much cash.
The well-known department store has a gorgeous selection of wedding dresses — but many fall well outside the parameters of what Broke-Asses may want to pay. The real hidden treasure at Nordstrom is in their bridesmaid dress selection — most of which come in some shade of white or off-white, and bear labels by the likes of Jenny Yoo and Monique Lhuillier. Score one of these beauties for a fraction of the cost of a wedding gown by the same designer and rock your wedding day in style!
What’s not to love about Anthropologie’s wedding line? Very little, in our opinions. Often a go-to resource for our “Can’t Afford It? Get Over It!” column because of their approachable price points, BHLDN has certainly become a mainstay here on BAB. While most of the gowns run in the $900-$2000 range, checking under the Reception Dresses or Sale tabs will yield a whole wonderland of beautiful options for well under $500.
