Good morning BABs! Another bride has fallen in love with the style of designer Berta’s gowns, and CAI/GOI is here to help! Mandy J wrote on this post asking for help:

Absolutely in love with Berta style 15-101 (long sleeves, backless, godet train, geometric inspired details). My budget is $3k and under. Thank you!!

Happy to help, Mandy! Berta has a unique modern, yet romantic style, and I see why so many of you find inspiration from her designs.  I’ve focused my search on gowns with a backless design with sleeves, and kept an eye for any geometric or modern patterns to the lace details. I’ve also tried to stick with gowns with slimmer silhouettes, that aren’t full ballgown skirts. Here we go!

Berta; Style 15-101; Fall/Winter 2015

Soho gown; $2,070 by Grace Loves Lace

Blanc gown; $2,250 by Grace Loves Lace

Mai gown; $2,450 by Grace Loves Lace

Style 694; $2,500+ by Demetrios

Deirdre gown; $1,000+ by Maggie Sottero

Karina gown; $2,000+ by Theia

Monica gown; $1,550 at BHLDN

Style 7702; $1,200+ by Ti Adora

Lenora gown; $1,000+ by Watters

My Love gown; $1,750 by Etsy seller WhiteMeadowBridal

And this one doesn’t have sleeves, but the geometric lines look stunning and you might be able to add sleeves or a shrug…

Style 6492; $1,500+ by Lillian West

I hope we’ve found something with that modern geometric look you found so inspiring with the Berta gown.  Until next time!

The holidays are in full swing, but reader Amy's got more than turkey and cranberry sauce on her plate; she's on the hunt for two Temperley London gowns! She writes: "Hello! HEEELLLLPPP! I love your "Can't Afford It? Get Over It!" column, and I fell in love with two dresses from Temperley London that I definitely can't afford. They are very unique, so I thought…

Credit: Persimmon Images Hello BABs! This week I would like to talk about my experience dress shopping. I like to think that I experienced my first investigation into the world of wedding dress shopping kind of like the five stages of grief: Denial: “I’m sure that I can find a pretty wedding dress that will make me feel like a beautiful princess for not that…

Hey BABs! Much as I'd love to play Fairy Godmother and conjure each of you the perfect gown with a flick of my sparkly wand, I am but a mere mortal, confined to hunting for wedding dresses from among those that already exist. It's been my honor and pleasure being a #GownHunter for you, but now it's time for me to pass the torch. This will be…

Sometimes distance is a bigger issue than budget. BAB reader Mary explains in her comment to this post:  Hi! I need help getting over an Amelia Sposa gown: Nova. My budget is $2,000. This dress is under that, but it is strictly online ordering from Italy, and I need to physically be able to try on the dress so this one is out. My specifics: 1.…

Hey BABs! You ready for a double-header? Reader Maggie asked if we had any ideas for budget-friendly versions of either the Mikaella's 1961 dress or the Maggie Sottero's Brecia gown. Both are lace fit and flare gowns with stunning keyhole, low back detailing and sweep / chapel trains. Maggie, the answer is YES! I've got ideas! That way-low open back detail is a toughie to find, but…

Sometimes a gown calls to you like a low-backed, cap-sleeved, plunging neckline, lace siren, as the Berta 14-20 did for reader Jessica, who commented on this post: I'm obsessed with these posts and have a dilemma myself... I fell in love with the Berta 14-20 when a model at a bridal show walked past me. The $8,000 price tag is out of my budget, though. Do…
