Affiliate Disclaimer NewWe love the House of Mooshki’s vintage-inspired gowns here on the BAB! (Check out our archives of previous Can’t Afford It? Get Over It! posts.) So, I was happy to help reader Jamie for today’s CAI/GOI request, a House of Mooshki “Sarah” look-alike. Jamie wrote:

I LOVE the House of Mooshki Sarah dress, if I could have ANY dress that would be it, but can’t bring myself to spend the $$$$ and I’m also so worried about having a dress that spendy shipped from the UK without having been fitted!!! Do you have any suggestions!???”

Before we delve into alternative gown options, I do want to let you know that House of Mooshki understands concerns about ordering a dress from afar. They have experience consulting with brides via Skype and telephone conference to ensure that brides get exactly what they expect. You could have your local seamstress take your measurements and then you can relay this information during your consultation. House of Mooshki gets that your wedding dress is a big investment and they want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

That said, I totally appreciate wanting to try on a dress beforehand and I am all for shopping close to home and saving money. In searching for the House of Mooshki’s “Sarah”-inspired gown, I focused on tea-length, lace dresses with short sleeves and a bit of ’50s-mod flare. Let’s see some under $1000 options!

Panic will always set in when a bride thinks she found the perfect dress and then realizes it isn’t available. This week’s request is from a bride who is looking for a solution.

I have found a dress that I absolutely love, but there is no way that I can have it. I fell head over heels for this vintage dress before realizing that it had already been sold. Can you find anything like it? I have had no luck and am really regretting ever finding it in the first place. Basically everything about it is perfect and I don’t know what to do.

Glad you’ve taken a breath and are ready to shop. We’re here to help.

Most of the sites featured in this link have a variety of other vintage and vintage-inspired dresses you can browse. The key to this is finding the dress with the right bones. You could add a sash, a sweetheart neckline, or even alter the neckline or sleeves. If the basics on the dress are what you’re looking for, you can have a local seamstress make it closer to your ideal dress. Just be sure you take it to someone you can trust. Any other BABs know of a vintage or vintage-inspired dress that should be considered?
