2/1 {Can’t Afford It/Get Over It} Grace Kelly-Inspired Gowns with Sleeves

Bride Melissa wrote in asking us to find her a Grace Kelly-inspired gown with sleeves.  In Melissa’s initial search for “sleeved bridal gowns,” she found gowns that exuded too much modesty and not enough style.  So she’s been having trouble finding something that pops.

It must be sleeve week, because I got another email from bride Briana looking for a Get Over It version of this sleeved gown by Le Spose di Gio:

Can’t Afford It:

So this is how we’re going to handle this.  First, I will post the Get Over It Gowns for Briana’s Le Sposa di Gio, then I will put together a Get Over It Gallery of Grace Kelly-inspired sleeved gowns under $1000 for Melissa. And feel free to share, ladies. Briana, you may see something you likes from Melissa’s Get Over It picks, and vice versa.  You sleeved brides need to stick together. Don’t you just feel the Get Over It gown love?

I adore the Grace Kelly #11 from Love June… if I had a body to go with the dress, I'd SO pick that!!!

For a while I was avoiding this series to prevent regrets about my dress, but I, to borrow an expression "got over it," and I am so impressed with your selections/fascinated with the results. Sometimes you can see where the money goes into expensive dresses, and sometimes it is a total mystery. Keep up the great work, Britt, and I hope you find the dress of your dreams, Melissa!

  • Thanks for posting inquiry for long sleeve dresses! How did you find so many awesome ones? It felt like I had searched every dress and designer on the internet. Like Stephanie, I LOVE Grace Kelly #11 from LoveJune. Also love #12 from LoveJune and #2 from Unique Vintage. Thank you SO much

Great finds! It seems like everything these days is sleeveless, so I know how hard it is to find something with straps or sleeves. When I was in a bridal shop (a large and well-known store in my area) and informed the saleslady that I did not want a strapless gown, she was actually pretty rude and said "Well, that eliminates 99% of the dresses here. You'll have a hard time finding something, but good luck." Gee, thanks.

I love the Kathy Ireland weddings dress. Who knew that she was doing bridal wear?! For less formal options, I love the Stop Staring dress and the Dolly Couture dress (where the model is opening up the oven). I've seen the second one before and it's adorable. It would look super cute with a birdcage veil or with a satin pillbox hat.

I would also suggest that if you see a dress you love that doesn't have sleeves, you might want to look into buying a shrug, bolero, or shawl, or seeing if a tailor could add an illusion neckline.

  • Beautiful gowns!

Thanks for the introduction to Dolly Couture! I love those dresses!

  • These are awesome! I already have my dress (it's a halter)…didn't want a typical strapless. Love these too tho…reception dress? 🙂

  • I never thought I would like long sleeve gowns, but some of these are changing my mind. Great post.

  • I love you for this article! Those dresses are amazing and i'm sure i llike them far more than the orriginal one. The 2, 3, 4, and so one photos are just amazing! I wish i was getting married!
Big THANKS for posting, waiting to get more interesting stuff from you. P.S. Where do you find all those amazing dresses?

  • Taleitha

These all are absolutely awesome!!! If I did not already have purchased my gown already- I'd definitely be looking at #12! SO CUTE!

  • Caroline

I added sleeves to my Dolly Couture gown and made all sorts of changes and it was still under the $1,000 mark!

Another great one is from the new Vera Wang collection White made for for David's Bridal coming out next week. There is a long sleeved one that is inspired by Ivanka Trump's wedding dress that is super gorgeous.

Casablanca Bridal and Jasmine Bridal both customize their gowns, so you can have them ordered with sleeves! Easy!

  • I wish to express appreciation to this writer for rescuing me from such a predicament. As a result of searching through the internet and coming across recommendations which are not beneficial, I believed my entire life was well over. Being alive devoid of the approaches to the problems you’ve solved all through the guideline is a serious case, as well as ones which might have badly damaged my career if I hadn’t discovered the blog. Your actual competence and kindness in controlling every item was precious. I am not sure what I would have done if I had not come upon such a stuff like this. I can now relish my future. Thanks so much for this reliable and results-oriented guide. I won’t think twice to suggest your web blog to anyone who would like counselling on this matter. I’m excited about finding out more about ubiquinol coq10.

That original gown is so simple (in a good way!) it may be affordable to have it made.
