Unique Wedding Dresses By Princess Lasertron

Megan over at Princess Lasertron is one of my most-admired fellow wedding peeps. I have followed her from the very start, and am constantly amazed by her productivity, creativity, moxie and drive. And to top it all off, she’s clearly completely down-to-earth and sweet as can be! I ain’t gonna lie. I wish we were besties.

In the past year, she’s not only kept her amazing felt and button bouquet business thriving, but she’s also had an edibly delicious baby, opened a super cool co-working space in Omaha, and now she’s launched a wedding dress collection that has me drooling on my keyboard and crying because I want one SO bad (and Christmas is still so far away). Clearly, these dresses are made for more than just weddings.

This kind of brilliance is going to put David’s Bridal out of business. Not only are the styles gorgeous, amazing, adorable, unique… you name it… but they’re affordable! Most dresses top off at $450, yo. They’re PERFECT for Broke-Ass Brides! Thanks to Princess Lasertron and her infinitely cool taste, you can score get a fierce wedding dress, custom-made for you and only you, in styles that will have your guests’ jaw’s dropping faster than you can say “I do”! Plus, most styles are completely rewearable. Oh, and sustainable. I’m dying ovah here!

Now feast your eyes on these bad boys and try not to cry.

Give Yourself a Break. Really.

This is not something you learn through Osmosis.

As women, we tend to be, well, VERY hard on ourselves. I’m working with five different brides right now, and I’ve heard a variation of this from each of them in the past couple of weeks:

” I don’t know why planning this wedding is so hard!I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing!”

Of course you don’t know what you’re doing. You’ve never planned a wedding before. If you’ve never planned a wedding before, you’re not going to know how to plan a wedding. Just like before you learned how to drive a car, you had no idea how to do it. Most people have never planned a party for 100+ people in their lives. There are a lot of moving parts, and a lot of stuff to watch out for. It’s okay that you don’t know what you’re doing, because eventually you will. For one thing, if you have a wedding planner, she will show you how to do it. And if you don’t, you have a plethora of resources to help you figure it out.

You will make mistakes, and that’s a part of learning. You will figure out how to correct those mistakes, and that is a part of learning, too. And, yes, sometimes that sucks. But do it anyway, because the end result is worth it.

And then there are simply a slew of things that brides tend to blame themselves for, that’s completely out of their control. It’s not your fault if you can’t afford a $100,000 wedding and all that could come with it. Not your fault that your relatives are being mean. It’s okay that you haven’t found the venue you want, yet, or linens in the perfect shade of blue. You will. Some things are in your control, and some are not. Instead of beating yourself up, which is often useless, take a deep breath, and figure out your next step. Another favorite part of this gig for me is watching that happen, helping people go from not knowing to understanding, to mastering the process. From watching me ask the questions they need answered to asking those questions themselves. I know I say it all the time, but I love, love this job. Because you guys? Are awesome. Try and remember that. :-)

This Week’s Wedding Deals:

The Knot continues to bring the good deals, even past the summer. This week’s specials? Reception accessories. Napkins, matches, coasters and, ooh, parasols! All available for personalization, all up to 15% off.

Courtesy of Corey's Images

Corey’s Images in Houston is holding their first contest – 8 hours of wedding coverage by two photographers, up to 1,000 images on disc for printing or viewing and ALL edited images posted to an online storefront for viewing or purchasing. FREE. Your wedding doesn’t have to be in Houston, it can be anywhere. Entering starts with a comment on their blog, and an email about why you and your fiance deserve to win. And even if you don’t win, you get 15% off their photography services, just for entering.

You know, I’ve always liked Katie Holmes. I liked her in Dawson’s Creek, I liked her in Batman, and she and Tom Cruise (who I also like), make cute babies. And I even like this necklace that she wears in the movie The Romantics – I have one just like it, in silver. You can win it by going back on The Knot,  you know, after you’ve  shopped for parasols, and sharing your favorite wedding party story. Mine is when the twin brother of the groom at one of my weddings kept getting congratulated all night long. What’s yours?

Speaking of weddings I’ve coordinated,  like I said, I’m working with five brides right now, which is my limit for the month, but I’ll be down to four in a couple of weeks. One slot left for full-service wedding planning in Los Angeles – would you like to fill it? Schedule your first consultation with me between now and September 25th, and if you agree to not get started planning your wedding until October 1st, you’ll get $250 off my rates. Shoot me an email at liz@silvercharmevents.com to make your appointment.

See you at the end of the aisle,

Liz
