Why, hello there, BAB’s! This week we are featuring another fabulous Watters gown! R.J. wrote in about “Odette” and how she just can’t get it off of her mind. Where do I begin? This dress is romantic, light and airy, ethereal, soft and unique. Did I forget anything?! Here’s what she had to say:
You provide such great alternatives!
I love the tiered skirt (without ruffles) and the detail in the bodice. What’s a broke ass bride to do?!
D’awww. Thanks, R.J.!!! It’s always fun helping all you BABs out. Finding your dream dress can already be pretty friggin’ stressful, especially when you do and it’s wayyy out of your budget. You ladies know! Some of you have tried on dozens of dresses and are still longing for that moment when you just KNOW. I always tell my friends I don’t know what I am going to do when I have to pick out my dress. I have trouble deciding what sammich to get at Jimmy John’s so can you imagine? I’ve even joked about getting married in a T-shirt and jeans. (Don’t worry, J/K!) Anyway, R.J., I might have thrown in some dresses you weren’t expecting, but these prices are AMAZINNNG. Vera Wang for $350 … say what?!

So, what do you think, R.J.? I know you have a little over a year before your wedding day so if you see something you like you should have enough time to try it on, even if you have to order it online. Have you gone to any of your local bridal boutiques yet, or are you just starting to look? I really hope I was able to help you out! Let us know what you think. Until next week, BABs …
Got a gown that you just can’t get off your mind? We’re happy to help you get over it! Just tell us in the comments below!
*As always, please do your own research before buying a gown online. Team Broke-Ass is here to provide you with inspiration and resources, but it is up to the consumer to know what they’re purchasing.
Stephanie is dying over the Watters Hera dress, but is also looking not to bust her budget of $1000. Your wish is my command, Stephanie! Watter you waiting for? Let’s get you a fit & flare gown with a textured bodice and flowy flare!

There you have it, Stephanie – some fit and flare options that give you more twirl for your dollar! The heavy texture on the top of the Watters dress is unique, but you can keep that visual interest with some lace, beading, or ruching for a fraction of the price. Happy dress shopping!
Let’s start the New Year by rocking a reader’s “CAI/GOI” challenge. Today’s challenge: Finding a new dress for Julianne to love!
I am absolutely in love with this Watters gown; however it is completely out of my price range. I would love something for under $500 with similar detailing on the bottom. Do you have any suggestions on where I should be looking?
Julianne, I’m happy to help! Finding something super detailed and sticking to a tight budget can be super difficult but starting a new year is all about resolutions, right? We’ve got this.

To get the detailing you want for under $500, sales and clearances are going to be your best bet. Lots of places have sales around this time of year. Get out there and look around. If you’re close to a sample size, consider going to stores to see which samples are on sale. I grabbed a sample dress and paid much less for it. It was a tad dirty, but a quick trip to the cleaner made the savings worthwhile.
This one is a simple and understandable request.
I need a Can’t Afford It/Get Over It for this beautiful Watters Anouk gown. I tried it on in the bridal shop but cannot justify over 2k for a wedding dress. Is there anything out there closer to the $1,000 range?
Well BAB, you’re in luck. The dress you covet is a classic design. If you’re willing to shop around, you’ll find a number of options with similar details. Here are just a few.

This is just a glimpse of your options. If there’s time before your wedding, be open to visiting small shops and going to sample sales. It’s the latter option that allowed me to get a $2,000 dress for $700, with tax – a steal, I know! Just be sure to take trusted critics with you so you don’t buy a final sale gown without making sure it’s “the one”.
Ladies, I have a gorgeous CAI gown this week that I am sure many of you have lusted over. It’s strapless, it’s curvaceous, it’s layered in organza, and I’ve got a whole round of gorgeous look-a-likes for under $1000. But first let’s see what Bride Tori wrote:
Hi, Dana! I am in love with the Watters dress called Tyler but I just can’t make myself love the price! Also, I have yet to find a retailer in my area so I can even try the darn thing on! Please help me out here. I’ve found a few sites that claim to have the same dress for a fraction of the cost but dishing out $600 for a knockoff that might not be right makes me cringe. I’ve tried on a similar dress by Marisa but it just didn’t fit the bill. Can you please find me a Tyler look-a-like for a price that’s lookin’ right?!
Thanks a bunch,
