Broke-Ass Category: Can’t Afford It? Get Over It!

Happy Thursday, BABs! Today’s CAI/GOI request is from reader Jenny, who is searching for a Rue de Seine “Haze” look-alike for under £1,000 (approximately $1,300) and available in the UK. She writes:

“Hi, I really love Rue de Seine’s Haze dress but only have a budget of max £1000. Do you know of any similar but cheaper dresses out there & available in the UK?
Thanks, Jenny”

The Rue de Seine gowns are very popular with BABers, and it’s not hard too see why.  Each of the gown designs are gorgeous and have a unique flair to them.  In this case, the embroidered skirt look provides an extra ‘Je ne sais pas’ to make it truly unique.  Jenny, you are in the UK, and I will try my best.  Most online shops will chip worldwide, but I’ll do my best to look around for UK shops as well.  I’ll focus on that textured skirt that the Haze gown has going for it.  Wish me luck!

Welcome back CAI/GOI lovers!  Today’s request is from reader Terri, who commented on this post:

Hi! I landed on this page while searching Amsale-inspired dresses! I’m in love with the Amsale-inspired May, specifically the minimalistic style and elegant sheer look and buttons on the back, and am hoping to find an alternative for under $1000! Please help!!

Hi Terri! We are happy to see more Amsale dresses on CAI/GOI, as they are all beautiful! This dress has an illusion tank neckline, a full length button back and a slim fit-to-flare silhouette. I’ll try to focus this search on minimalist slim-fit-to-flare or sheath styles with the higher neckline, and hope for some button or other details to add a little something special. Remember, if you find a strapless gown you love, you can talk with your seamstress about altering to add an illusion top. Here we go!

    “May” by Amsale; $4,000+

Christina Wu Brides Style 15629; around $900

Amsale’s “Alyce” gown; $310 at Nordstrom

Mikado Sweetheart Dress; $700 at Camille la vie / Group USA

Chiffon A-Line Dress with Beaded Bodice; $130 at David’s Bridal

Embellished Halter A-line Gown by Betsy & Adam; $280 at Macy’s

White by Vera Wang; $800 at David’s Bridal

Style 8553; $1000 at Alfred Angelo

Drape Back Crepe Gown by Katie May; $295 at Nordstrom

    Sawyer Gown; $800 at BHLDN

Trumpet Hem Maxi Dress; $300 at ASOS

Short-Sleeve Beaded Bridal Gown by Adrianna Papell; $390 at Dillard’s

Beaded Embellished Neck Mermaid Gown by Terani Couture; $560 at Dillard’s

Let us know if any of these help you out, Terri.  That first one is lovely and had a gorgeous button back detail you were seeing in the Amsale May gown.  Until next time!
