{Can’t Afford It/Get Over It} Shoes… Yes, Shoes!
Sorry if this week’s CAI/GOI post appears to be a bit bizarro this week. I got inspired to change things up a bit from a dear reader named Maggie who wrote in asking this question: “Can you do a Can’t Afford It?/Get Over It shoe edition??” Maggie is absolutely smitten with the Elopement Pumps from BHLDN‘s new bridal line. Not only are the shoes way out of this broke-ass bride’s budget, but to top it off, the shoes would cost her an additional $50 to ship to her residence in Canada. She would be spending upwards of $400 on a single pair of shoes. For one day. So Maggie wants to get over these shoes and has requested that her get over it picks be in the $100 or less range.
Let’s do this.
Can’t Afford It:
Get Over It:
1. T.U.K. Retails for $45.
2. Ziginy. Retails for $99.95.
3. Seychelles. Retails for $90.
4. Kimchi Blue. Retails for $39.
5. RJ Girl. Retails for $50.39.
6. Calvin Klein. Retails for $79.45.
7. Plasticland. Retails for $52.
8. Vintage picks from Etsy. All sell for less than $50.

ooh! i like those black and teal vintage shoes, great picks for under $100 for sure!
I LOVE BHLDN but they DEFINITELY don't fit into my broke ass budget! Thanks for the great Get Over It selection!
Thanks for the beautiful shoes – would love to see a Get Over It for awesome flat shoes, and for larger (size11+) shoes
this is my fave section every time!
i love this section! you guys amaze me every time! really great alternatives here!!
Keep 'em coming!
BTW those Elopement Pumps are gorgeous and you would defo wear them again. So it’s not just for one day! But the others are lovely too
Maggie, thank you so much – I almost wrote in about these exact same pumps a few days ago.
To be honest, I would never recommend cheap/er shoes for your wedding for 2 main reasons.
1) If you're going to be in these things for 6+ hours you will want comfort and style and you don't usually find those two in a cheap shoe at the same time. They usually do not provide support, the faux leather will not stretch to the shape of your foot and you'll be aching if you don't get some ballet flats on those pins by the end of the day.
2) Not sure about the rest of you but I would much prefer spending a little bit more for a pair of to-die-for shoes that I -will- wear again. Wedding shoes are not like your wedding dress; they don't have to be tucked away for the rest of your life after the big day. You can bring them out again to parties and other functions or 'just because'.
I love your section on Can't Afford It/Get Over It wedding dresses because some of the Get Over It dresses are actually breathtaking but with the shoes, I don't think I can sacrifice gorgeousness for comfort or vice versa. But each to their own of course!
