{Can’t Afford It/Get Over It} Swiss Dots & Polka Dots!

Last week’s CAI/GOI post focused on textured gowns; this week we are focusing on another detail that will for sure give your gown that extra pop of detail. I decided this post title deserved an exclamation point because when I think polka dots and Swiss dots, I think “fun”. However, the price for a polka dot or Swiss dot wedding gown isn’t always “fun” — at least not for our wallets. Here are a few polka/Swiss dot stunners that we’re going to hopefully try to get over by the end of this post.

Lastly, reader Jennifer is selling her gorgeous Michelle Roth Polka Dot Bridal Gown (See “Can’t Afford It” gown above).  It is currently listed on Recycled Bride for $1800…and Jennifer indicated there might be some wiggle room there. The dress originally cost $2400, so if you gotta have this gown, now’s your chance to save hundreds of dollars on it! Contact Jennifer, here.

Love! I wore the first one (Melissa Sweet ‘Dora’) for my wedding! Oh how I love me some swiss dot.

Hi! I just wanted to update! I submitted a "Can't Afford it; Get Over it!" a few weeks ago (http://www.thebrokeassbride.com/2011/02/cant-afford-itget-over-it-off-le-shoulder-gowns/) and I got my dress in the mail on Saturday! I used Once Wed dot com and had a fantastic transaction and totally got the dress I couldn't afford for ONE-FIFTH of the price. ONE-FIFTH! Thanks for helping me think outside the box, Britt! It's my dream dress and I cannot believe how well it worked out. Oh, and for any brides (or parents of the bride) who might be freaked out (I know I was!) about the prospect of ordering a wedding dress on the internet (seriously, the way people have been responding to me after I tell them this makes me feel like I told them I just climbed Everest barefoot TWICE), especially in a "recycled"-type format? I used a service called escrow dot com that allowed the seller to see that the funds were there before they shipped the dress and allowed me to make sure the dress was what the seller described before she got the money. It could not have worked out better. Thanks again!

I love the polka dot dresses, but then again I'm biased. My wedding has some polka dots swirling around, so I'm definitely a fan.

Look up "Irina" by Watters and Watters (http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/16942/#Colors:white). The website says that this dress is under $1000… I'm trying it on Saturday! :D

I love these posts not only because they help keep the budget down but because they connect me to awesome clothing vendors that I never knew about! Keep it up! Oh, and do one on bridesmaids dresses!

  6. Lauren

I love the swiss dots. I don't really have the guts to wear dots to my wedding, but they are so darling!

  7. Jessica

I love the idea of polk a dots, I think I may look for one! It looks classy and fun, love this article

The Sweet Melissa Dora was the exact dress I couldn't get over! I wrote up the story of how I was FORCED to get over it on my wedding website: http://www.weddingmapper.com/justinandalyson2012/…
