Off-the-Rack Wedding Dresses – For $1000 or Less
After many, many months of countless trips to traditional bridal shops, where I had to try to squeeze my bod into too-small samples, get outdated fashion advice from women my grandmother’s age, and then wait four months for a dress, I realized that the whole bridal shop experience wasn’t for me. Why bother with these painful shopping trips when I can just order a dress online, receive my dress in less than a week, and then return it if it doesn’t fit?

I had no idea that The Limited had bridal wear! When did this happen?! I love the Tadashi gown the best–it's gorgeous and looks way more expensive than the price tag says!
I bought my dress off-the-rack, and got looked at like I was a crazy lady because I "only tried on a few [5] dresses!" That was enough for me, because mine rocks [too big, too long, too strapless ... ]. There's a few alterations to be done … but it was SO the way to go for me.

I want want WANT that dress from BHLDN. I saw it the day the website opened and knew it was the perfect dress for me. But 1K is still way over my dress budget. That's like, one third of my entire wedding budget
Any suggestions on a similar dress for less? I've never seen anything like it.
Oops, I should have specified–I meant the third one, the cotton eyelet dress.
Are you talking about the lacy looking dress? It's only $600, not $1000. The cotton eyelet dress is $1000. I would check Etsy.com to see if someone can make a similar vintage inspired dress within your budget. Good luck!

I just discovered dhgate.com- it is a website that connects consumers with the chinese manufacturers that make all the dresses for american retailers like david's bridal, but bypassing the markup, to make for some super cheap dresses that are made to order in your exact measurements. I have my eye on one, but am waiting to see how various vendors who have the same dress respond to my questions before buying. it is definitely worth a look!
