Boy, have I got a challenge on my hands. Reader Rachel E. sent in a request that would put my Get Over It gown-finding skills to the ultimate test.

She wrote, “I’ve never been the “dress” type and I’m quite frugal. I can’t justify spending a lot on something I will only wear one time. I don’t want to spend more than $150 to $200, so it might be a challenge!

My CAI/GOI requests usually ask that the Get Over It gown picks be under $1000.  But let’s get serious here… $1000 ain’t chump change, wedding or no wedding. So I think it’s awesome that our bride Rachel E. is sticking to her budget guns and requesting that I find a gown she’d actually put money down for.

The gown of her dreams is by Maggie Sottero, style #RD1086.  It retails for about $800. Check out it’s beauty:

What an awesome post for upcoming brides! I tweeted this right away! I hope it proves to be a great resource for my 2011 brides!

I bought my wedding dress for my beach wedding through Nordstroms online. They have a great return policy so I knew I could return it if it didn't work out when I received it. I actually really love it and it's exactly what I've been looking for! I was able to get it for $80 on clearance! My size was the last one left! I lucked out! :)

http://www.romanticgowns.com has a pretty good selection of gowns under $200. Just ordered mine from there – it was actually a MOB dress but was exactly what I was looking for. Sent it (with 3 other pics) to my fiance, and he actually picked the one I ordered – plus he was ecstatic to hear all 4 were under $200!

I love the Nordstrom pick. It is my favorite of the “get over it” bunch.

You could opt to have someone copy the dress and avoid the designer pricetag. I think this site designs dresses to look like designer dresses– http://www.brandofdress.com/product.php?productid

A seller on PreOwnedWeddingDresses has your dress for sale (I’m not sure what size you need). It’s a bit more than your budget, but the great thing about this site is that you can negotiate with individual sellers. I bought my dress and veil from here, and paid less than the list price on both.

Right On! My fiance' and I eloped to Key West this past September and I needed to find a dress that would cater to the lovely (aka HOT & HUMID) weather. Found my dress at Nordstrom, awesome little number that retailed for $178. bought it had it altered and when I had gone to pick it up apparently went on sale. It went form 178. down to 99.97 which I got back with alterations, it only cost me about 130.00 in the end. I wouldn't have had it any other way!

Love it!! another option I've heard a lot of is sites like Light in the Box, which copies designer dresses for a fraction of the cost. A lot of folks feel sketchy about ordering from places like that, though, for ethical reasons (they're concerned about who exactly is making the dress, or about the ethics of 'ripoff' designs).

I'm getting my dress from Etsy, actually, after struggling relentlessly with finding something that worked for me (I hate strapless and floor-length dresses, which automatically eliminates like 99% of all wedding attire ever). It's custom fitted, so I won't really need any alterations, and only about $200. woohoo!

I ordered my wedding dress for 199.00 at Lightinthebox.com. I sent in my measurements and paid $30.00 for custom fit, ordered a veil, tiara and garter, and paid a total of $250.00 with shipping included. I ordered it on Jan. 6th, 2011, and received it on Jan 21, 2011. It fit perfectly and is well made! I may have to have it hemmed, or order something for underneath to raise it up a couple of inches… but all in all it was great. They have several styles at different price points. You may return it if you don't like it.. but be sure to keep the tag on the dress if you plan on doing that. Check the reviews on each dress you look at, talk to some of the brides that provide their email addresses, and check out the pics people send in of the dress to get an idea of what it will look like in person. Mine looked better than online. I lucked out! But I highly recommend that site!

http://www.lightinthebox.com actually has quite a selection. I was super nervous about ordering online from China but the results were great, love the dress and I'd definitely recommend them especially if you need a custom size! Mine was $350 including custom sizing and shipping and coworkers and people I've showed think it was $1500+, definitely a good deal for a budget wedding!

I ordered three dresses from Nordstroms online. None of them worked, but the return was hassle-free at my local store! It's a great option.

Received my dress Tuesday evening & am very pleased. I forgot to mention I ordered a 26 which was $30 more, but still very reasonable overall + it wasn't one of what I consider the bottom-of-the-barrel designs for plus sized brides that I had found in other places. Good luck!
