Tuesday, November 2nd.
This is a site that is supposed to be fun, inspirational and mainly about weddings. So where do I get the cajones to bring up politics into this place that we try to escape those concerns? Well don’t git scurred, I’m keeping my political opinions out of this, and trust me that’s hard ‘cause I can jibber jabber politics ’till the Congress comes home. (Did I get that expression right?) I’m just going to encourage you to act on behalf of what you want for your life, for your marriage and for your future. Every day with our behaviors and interactions, we are making a choice to create the future we desire. When we take a vow to our spouse, we look to the future together and promise to make it the best one possible. Tomorrow is one of those moments where we have the opportunity to talk directly to our government to change the future for the better.
In all the days you spend on this earth there are very few moments that offer you an opportunity to directly affect the direction your society moves in. How often have you murmured under your breath, “That’s ridiculous!” or “If it were up to me…” regarding the powers that be – whether it be a politician, corporation or simple “public policy”. So isn’t it painfully ironic that with all of these incredible personalities with strong perspectives who live in our kick-ass nation that some estimates are below a meager 50% of our country actually participating in a midterm election.
Some may say that it is because the political system is not engaging their needs. Oh, I hear ya! All the more reason these folks need to get in the ring and start punching, or rather get in the booth and start punching (ballot cards). Government is a “too many cooks in the kitchen” operation. It is not a pebble that can be thrown to where we desire but a gigantic boulder that will only reach the peak of our desires if we all push and never give up. It is incredibly frustrating that we all can’t agree on the best way to reach the top, but regardless if we are all committed and never stop pushing, eventually we will have enough common ground to move forward. It is only if we give up, step away, and wipe our hands clean of the responsibility of participation that government and with it our future is sure to roll down the hill and smash amongst the rocks of disarray.
Politics has never been at a point of such confusion in my lifetime as it is now. People are hurting in this country and they demand a better life. It is times like this when it is the hardest to agree. And with the unfortunate tactics of many, it can be disheartening and confusing to get involved. But that is why we must. Regardless of your opinion, your desire, your “side” of the issue or candidate, I implore you. Take five minutes tonight and look at the choices you have tomorrow. And then tomorrow take five more minutes to make a choice (and bring a friend). Make a choice to look to the future and, inch by inch, we will push this boulder together.
VOTE.

Well said!
Beautiful!
Good message Hunter! My ballot is already in, but I’m telling all my friends to be sure to make their voices heard too.
Thanks for the post!
I hope EVERYONE will take a minute to read your post — and then take 10 minutes to cast their ballot.
Thanks.
My morning exercise tomorrow will be walking to my polling place and back. As Stewart and Colbert said, Vote Early …and Awesome.
