{Wedding Inspiration} Nuts About You!

I enjoy Chock Full o Nuts coffee.  It’s cheap. It’s delicious. And it comes in a rad-ass can.  Aside from ‘inspiring’ me to stay awake during my early morning commute, this coffee gave me a few wedding inspiration ideas as well. I have always loved the phrase “Nuts About You.” It’s cute n quirky. Just like me and my husband.  So I decided to base a wedding around it.

Because Chock Full o Nuts still packages their coffee in old school, retro-looking cans, I had the idea to reuse them as vases for centerpieces.  I mean, you’re buying the coffee anyway, am I right? Why not keep the cans and reuse them as decor? And shoot, the color scheme on these babies ain’t half bad: yellow, green, red, black. Kinda unique if ya ask me.

Save your coffee cans, and let them inspire your decor!

Did you know that if you crack a whole black walnut in half, both sides of the nut are in the shape of a heart? How cute would these be scattered around tables, or used as place card holders?

Nothing says “Nuts About You” more literally than this.

And get this: There is actually a type of walnut called a “Heartnut” because the outside and the inside is in the shape of a heart.  This specific type of walnut actually comes from Japan, but is able to grow in the Great Lakes area of the Midwest.  Here is what they look like:

There are many online retailers that sell heartnuts by the pound.  I found some here that sell for $6.00 per lb. Not bad!

Next, let’s talk lighting.  Oh, yes.  You best believe I have a “nuts” related idea for this one. I mean, in all honesty I have a nuts related idea for everything I encounter, but I digress…  The idea for lighting is this: Eat a ballsload of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from now until your wedding and save the jars for tea lights.  You can choose to wash the labels off, or keep ‘em on. It’s all on you and what you’re vibin’ on, yo.

Save your peanut butter jars and reuse them as tea light holders.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the peanut butter jar. Any old jar will work with a tea light.

Something I have noticed recently in wedding blogland is the use of signage above the altar…  As shown in this amazingness displayed here.  And what would be cuter than getting a special sign to hang above you during your ‘I do’s’ that says, “Nuts About You”?

This would be darling as altar decor. This one in particular would fit wonderfully with a circus themed wedding.

Two words: Ceremony programs.

Get a custom lettered stamp, a squirrel stamp and some brown kraft paper. Ceremony programs: DONE. And delicious.
