Some wedding inspiration for ya!

I put together a little inspiration board with a garden/vintage kind of theme. I love peonies because they are such luscious, big, delicious smelling flowers and I also love the pale pink color of them. I’m also head over heels for vintage cameos and think that they can make the perfect match when pinned onto a bouquet. In my book, you just can’t go wrong using vintage inspiration for anything. Flea markets and antique shops are my mecca.

I love the vintage yet modern feel to this mood board. The pinks, greens, and greyish blues go so nicely together. It makes me do a happy dance.

All the different cameos and shoe colors kick up the subtle colors in these dreamy chiffon dresses.

What kinds of things inspire you for your wedding?

Hi! I would LOVE if you could create a board for me, I'm BRAND NEW to this planning process (and it's so exciting!!) and could use some help unifying my ideas… it's all so overwhelming out here in wedding blogland!
Things I'm into right now: Navy bridesmaid dresses; gray suits for the guys; PEONIES, as many as we can manage (that's how I found this post in the first place!); long family style tables for the reception; candles, and a billion of them.
Words I want the wedding day to embody: clean, romantic, classic.
errr, that's all I've got right now, go easy on me, this is all so new!
You will be the BEST, thanks in advance for helping me kick off this entire process!

Oh what a great idea! I tried to make one on another site and it did not come out the way l liked. The colors were using are coral and (well its a greenish blue) called "Foliage" Here is the link to the dress…. .http://watters.com/product.php?coll=wtoo&showid=2431 but look on the color swatch for Foliage. So im having a hard time finding pictures of a color like that and coral together. If you find anything that would be great! Need ideas for flowers, jewelery, shoes, mens attire, and decorations for reception. I would be real excited to see what you could come up with :) What a nice thing to offer to help with!!! thanks so much and i love this site!!!

Newbie, things to keep in mind as you're planning everything:
    1. Determine the size of venue needed: gather a guesstimated guest list. There were lots of great venues in my area that maxed out at 40 people; an instant scratch off for my 110-130 count.
    2. Once you know how many people, find your venue, and make sure your date(s) of choice are available. The venue will help set the overall tone of your wedding. Things book up faster than you'd realize for popular dates and locations. Think outside the box, and you may be able to get something off the normal radar at a steal of a price – an aquarium, art gallery, or museum provide instant entertainment and conversation for your guests who may not know each other.

    3. Research, research, research, and buy things well in advance! Your venue may have limitations on what is allowed – my state prohibits candles beyond a certain size in many public venues; to avoid things issues I used LED candles. I bought my candles around the holidays when they were in store, avoiding shipping costs. Time flies by much quicker than you'd think, so the more you have done in advance, the less headache you'll have as the big day approaches.
    4. Use your network! A friend from my dance group turned us on to our venue before it hit everyone's radar, a family member had floral business and offered to do our flowers, several friends recommended a discount bridal salon, and friends and family will often chip in to help out as needed and someone may feel comfortable pinch-hitting as a day-of coordinator.

Good luck, and I'm sure your day will be fabulous!

    Desert weddings!
And cool shoes that aren't flats but won't make you taller than your groom. I'm struggling in this department :)

OMG I'm loving those pendants and shoes… and the dresses too. OK I'll take everything in the 2nd picture please.

Hi! I am so excited to have found this post! I have been trying for months to come up with my own board, and I can never get all my ducks in a row, so to speak. So this is PERFECT!
My wedding is this December, but I didn’t want to go all out with a winter wonderland wedding theme, because I know that’s what my guests would expect. Instead, I went the complete opposite direction and chose a sunny yellow color and added grey in order bring it down just a few notches. I want my girls in slivery-grey dresses carrying yellow flowers with the guys in grey suits with yellow ties.
Also, my fiancee and I are are totally in love with the 60s – the music, the fun carefree spirit, the fashion – everything! So I definitely want to incorporate that into the style of my whole day.
Basically, what I would describe my day as would be a yellow & grey, 60s inspired, fun celebration of our love. I don’t like anything too fussy and uber-romantic. Just simple, entertaining and cheery. Really anything goes as long as it fits those parameters.
Thank you so much in advance! :)

i BEG you to tell us/me where that dress and those shoes are from in the first board – it is like the outfit i've been dreaming of for the rehearsal….

  11. Jessica

Love the blue and yellow dresses. Where are they from?

  12. maura

please please please tell us where the dress and shoes from the first image are from!! :) thanks

  13. maddie

    maura,
the dress is from lela rose and the shoes are from kurtgeiger.com they are a bit on the pricey side, but i have seen similar shoes at aldo!

  14. maddie

i LOVE the combo or a sunny yellow with a muted grey! and 60′s? love love. i will do what i can in the way of an inspiration board for you

  15. maddie

i love navy and peony together! sounds like a great combo. i will create something for you!

  16. maddie

    jessica,
the blue dress is from coast-stores.com and the white one is from debenhams.com they are both 200 dollars, I love the yellow dress too and it’s from matthew williamson.

  17. maddie

for shoes that aren’t flats, try a kitten heel. you can find white kitten heels from david’s bridal and dyeables.com it’s just enough of a heel to make your legs look great and give you that sexy feel that a high heel does without making you taller than your man!

  18. maddie

the shoes are from asos.com and they are 47 bucks. score!!! the earrings are from judith leiber and are totally overpriced, but i have a very similar pair from dillards.

  19. Jessica

    Thank you!!

oh goodness, i am so happy i found brokeassbride :)
i'm sitting eating lunch at work & have fallen in love with these inspiration boards. i was wondering.. i am getting married oct 2011, i have all kinds of ideas in my head for my wedding! could you make one for me? here are a few details:
colors: black & white are the main colors. with red & purple. silver accents (no gold)
theme: music! (both my future husband & LOVE music. i love to sing & he's a recording engineer) -music notes, microphones, sheet music, records, etc. also, we are huge Michael Jackson fans & would love his "inspiration" in our wedding as well. (we will be playing his music for our first dance & also for the ceremony :))
we are fun and goofy, so a traditional/boring wedding just won't cut it. i've even entertained the idea of wearing a red wedding dress. i was thinking of having my bridemaids wear black, & the groomsmen in suspenders & possibly fedoras.

i can't wait to see your idea :)
    thank you! -gina
