Please enter me! I'm getting married May 8, 2010. A fun fact about my wedding… well, besides using the idea of wedding fairies that I saw here… our officiant is a fuschia-haired, show tune-singing, professional poker-playing, motorcycle-riding, utilikilt-wearing, book-writing landscape & erotic photographer & software engineer.
Hi! I've loved following your blog as I've been planning my (large- family, what can you do?:) wedding on a major budget!;) Thanks for all the tips! My fiance and I both live in NYC (but are getting married in LA) and, since its so hard to get things delivered here if you don't have a doorman, thought we were going to have to get a mini storage unit for people to send wedding gifts to! Thankfully, we found our new apartment right when the invites went out:) I had pictured us taking a packed taxi from the storage unit with all our gifts… Our date is: February 13, 2010 in Redondo Beach, CA
i am an avid follower of your blog, and i've loved watching your recent developments! My fiance and i are looking to be married on Dec. 18, 2010, and want to hold our wedding and reception at his college campus, and in the ballroom where we had our first few dates. a fun fact: because dancing has been so important to our relationship, we would like to choreograph and perform a special wedding dance for our friends and loved ones and, if possible, invite an "expert" in to teach our guests how to dance as well. We will need a very talented event coordinator indeed to pull this off! thanks for the 411 on this contest!
ps – i have also signed up for your newsletter for the extra submission.
Hi, our wedding is going to be on October 16, 2010. A fun / stressful fact about our wedding is that we are going to have two ceremonies; a Hindu service and a Catholic service. This will involve costume changes and lots of entertaining to keep guests happy! It is going to be a long but memorable day. For my sanity, this DOC giveaway would be perfect for our wedding day!

Please enter us – May 8, 2010. We are having a good friend officiate and are also having a friend read a letter that we wrote about equal rights and gay marriage. We felt it was important to recognize all of the people who are supporting us and our marriage even though they have been cut out of the process in most states.
Our wedding is on June 29, 2011. A fun fact about our wedding plans is that we are going to have a cake topper of a princess kissing a frog because my future hubby is a herpetologist (frog biologist)!
Excellent! We so need this. Our wedding date is June 5, 2010 and so far the thing we're most excited about is a Salsa Bar…Not too revolutionary, but we do love ourselves some yummy salsa and can't wait to fill our guest up with some authentic yumminess.
Our wedding date is 11/6/10. We plan to have our wedding in beautiful, historic Ybor City right outside of Tampa. We are looking to do something vintage and definitely different than any other wedding out there while staying on a broke ass budget! Please enter me for the coordination!! We are just starting to put together the details – so hopefully more fun details to report on in the future –
Ooh ooh! Enter us! Enter us! Please! Our wedding is scheduled for Oct 2, 2010. We will be getting married up at a Bed and Breakfast up in Big Bear (weekend wedding! yay!) and boy could our broke-asses use some professional guidance! (He wanted flying monkeys at the reception, but I said that might get messy, so we compromised–perhaps the rehearsal dinner.) Anyhoo, other fun ideas include a pre-wedding "movie night" with mulled wine, cocoa, kettlecorn, candy, s'mores and other gooey treats while watching "Big Fish" (the first movie we saw together) and quirky classics, like "Young Frankenstein" outside projected on a "big screen" (i.e., bedsheet). Yeah. Grandiose ideas. Wee lil' budget. A professional would be good. Thanks!
I need…. I repeat NEED a day of coordinator! I'm such a worrier I think I'd go crazy without one! My finace and I will FINALLY be tying the knot on June 12, 2010. We're planning a super colorful Mexican wedding. We're having a taco truck cater and and plan on incorporating Dia De Los Muertos (our favorite holiday) skeletons in our wedding decor!
Best. Contest. Ever. Our wedding is ALL fun facts: 2 brides, DIY everything, fab location, Kogi truck catering, bad-ass photographer, and rockin' after party and the list goes on…Mmmm come to think of it all we really need (and can't really find in our tiny little budget) is an amazing DOC. Crossing our fingers for this one!
thanks!
October 2, 2010 and we're planning on having our wedding at a brewery! Yay! Let the love (and beer) flow!
Thanks for the amazing opportunity!
Our date is September 18, 2010. We're planning on having a local shave ice truck serve some icy treats for our guests during cocktail hour!
Please enter me as well!! Our wedding date is 10.09.10, and will center around our love of words (we heart words) – including using decals on the wall behind us at the altar to be the focal point of how we want our love, and marriage, to always be. I could also sure use some help in coordination – I tend to get distracted and floopy very easily!! Thank you for the amazing opportunity!
I would love to be entered into this contest! Our wedding date is 10/24/10. We are having the wedding back in Maryland (where we're both from), but we are planning alllllll the way from Dallas, Texas. Yikes! We will definitely need some help keeping our heads on straight that day. We are having it up on a mountain in a little stone building with a gorgeous deck overlooking the countryside. Fun fact: since my fiance and I live in Dallas now, we're bringing a little of Texas back to Maryland by serving fajitas, Shiner Bock beer and margaritas. Delicious!
Our wedding date is 4/3/10. Let's see… a fun fact about our wedding would be that I am DIY'ing paper flowers for all of the favors for our guests!
Our wedding date is 03/09/2011 but not set in stone yet. Fun fact – we are going to be asking one of our closest friends to get ordained through the internet so that she can be our officiant!
Wow we could sooooo use your help! We're getting married on 8/14/2010. We'll have 3 languages on our invitations! It'll have English, Chinese, and Vietnamese! Wish us luck on trying to incorporate a design that can fit all 3 languages in one little invitations!
My wedding is October 3rd, 2010. I'm currently a fashion design student so I will be designing and making my own dress!
My wedding date is Sept 24, 2010. I making all of my flowers out of paper, sewing all of the tables clothes (my fiance is sewing some too), making my invitations etc etc. I love making crafts and art projects so I am excited to display all my hard work and be a broke ass bride at the same time!
fun fact: 1920's is the theme of our wedding..we are giving guests the option to dress the part and are looking forward to an amazing day! winning the skills of a super fun lady to coordinate would make this day even more perfect.. my girls and i will be wearing garter flasks which no one will know about till the reception..friends and family are doing all the invites, cooking (shrimp boil !),photography and decorating.
wouldn't Wendy LOVE an excuse to dress 20's??!!
Our wedding date is 9/5/10 in South Jersey, and one fun fact about our wedding is that we're having our first dance professionally choreographed to a beautiful song, "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys!
Our wedding date is 7.11.10 – international slurpee day, which we intend to celebrate with slurpees for all. A fun fact is that our first date was one 10.11.07. (Spooky that it presages the wedding date – we didn't plan it this way, it just happened.) Also since my dad is officiating, my mom is a photographer diva, my partner's parents are going to return from the peace corps just to attend, there will be mayhem unless we get a DOC. Too bad the budget is nearly gone. Thanks!
Thought I'd pop in to see the comments and read your latest post! I'm uber excited for the new year Dana Dane!
I'm lovin' all the comments ladies. This one's gonna be a toughy! Good luck to you all!
My daughter's wedding is July 10, 2010 in Stony Brook, NY. I figured I would send this note since the wedding is at my home and I am the one who desperately needs the Day Of HELP!! The wedding will be casual, rustic, and elegant (is that all possible?) We are having so much fun planning it but I know that pulling together all the details takes a real professional. Winning this would be a wonderful and greatly appreciated surprise.
My fiance and I are getting married on October 30, 2010 (10-30-10), the day before Halloween. We wanted to do something memorable not just for us but for our friends and family too – so we are throwing a Masquerade Ball! There will be costumes and masks and crystal chandeliers and some very fun people to boot! Think "Phantom of the Opera" with a lot of Mexican extras (my family). Whoever is the lucky winner – Congrats in advance
We need you desperately! We've been engaged for about 6 months, and are planning on a 12/5/10 wedding. Fun facts: we planned our honeymoon before the wedding, and now are cracking down on locations!
Our wedding date is April 30, 2010. A fun fact about our wedding is that my grandmother passed away recently (not fun), and we didn't realize until my aunt told me that she and my grandfather (who I never met) had been married on April 30th as well. My grandmother also left me a set of pearls and a gorgeous handkerchief to carry with me on my wedding day.
We have friends pitching in on everything from the decorations to being our officiant, to the music, and a day-of-coordinator would alleviate the stress from so many people.
I hope this contest is still open–because I would absolutely LOVE a DOC! We are getting married in San Diego, 7/3/2010, at a winery. We're a couple of quirky intellectuals whose guest list continues to rise, 200 and counting, but of course trying to DIY as much as possible. To add on to the craziness, we're having a 300+ Chinese banquet one week after our San Diego wedding, so needless to say, at this point, I could use all the help I can get.
Did I mention our wedding is going to have lots of wine?
Oooh – count me in! We're getting married on May 29, 2010 and would LOVE a DOC! One thing I'm most excited about at our wedding is incorporating our love of drum & bugle corps (its how we met!) into the celebration…along with a popcorn buffet!
I'm a broke-ass bride who's a huge fan of your broke-ass (but looks like a million bucks) blog!
Our wedding will be 9/5/10 in Tarrytown, NY. Fun fact: We're both writers, so we're having our ceremony and reception at Washington Irving's house. (He was a gentlemen gardener, so there's a gorgeous garden–would love for Wendy to see it!)
We are getting married November '10. We have nearly pinned down location and therefore the date.
Fun Facts:
The officiant will be one of my oldest friends (I think we met at age 4).
We have two "best men" who have been my fiance's best friends since little league.
My matron of honor doesn't know she's my matron of honor yet because I feel funny asking her before we have an official date.
Our wedding will be approximately 7 years after we stared dating and 14 years after we became friends.
What a wonderful giveaway! We're getting married on Sept. 18, 2010, and everything will be DIY'd by me. We're still in the planning process, and are still deciding on some kind of crazy choreographed dance to do at the reception…..but that's still up in the air. We will also be having a "Sweets" buffet with all of our favorite sweets, including Twinkies, Nutty Buddies, Pixie Stix and my Mr.'s very own nut mix that he makes for himself to take to work.
We are shooting for a $3,000 wedding (excluding our attire and rings).
Thanks for this great opportunity!
We're getting married on 10/09/10
Fun facts:
Having a candy bar is one of the only details my fiance and I immediately agreed upon
We're having the reception in a fabulously old barn
We're calling the wedding the "multiracial, multicultural event of 2010"
I am DIY-ing almost everything and keep dreaming I'm not going to finish the bridesmaids' knitted wraps in time! A DOC would help take my mind off some of the other details so I could get busy knitting!!
Our wedding date is June 26, 2010 in Ventura, CA. Fun facts: taco truck & churro cart for dessert! Need I say more?! The not-so-fun stuff is pulling off the logistics of an outdoor wedding (on a mountainside overlooking the Pacific Ocean). The concept is easy-breezy, but we need a DOC's help to bring it all together! Gracias.
June 12, 2010 – our colors for the wedding happen to be the colors of the men's music fraternity, of which my fiance is a member. Except for my little brother, all of the groomsmen are fraternity brothers, and have decided that they are going to do everything possible to make our wedding the coolest ever!
Our wedding date is June 12, 2010. This day was chosen by my future husband, because this is his father's birthday. We both lost our fathers at an early age and we recently found out that our dads were friends. How ironic? We met over 5 years ago on a Saturday by Thursday his was my boyfriend and now he is about to be my partner in life. He asked me to be his wife on November 3, 2009, and wants to plan a super wedding in 8 months. However, cash flow has stop and were justing getting started. We need you DOC. HELP.
We're getting married on August 21st in Philadelphia, where we live. We're having an ice cream truck, antique cotton candy machine, dancing the foxtrot, homebrewing the beer, chowing down on BBQ, including our 3 dogs, and DIYing essentially everything. A DOC would help put all of our ideas into a more organized fashion!
hmmm our fun fact is we are not doing most of the traditional stuff, everything is unique to us from our readings, decorations, unity sand and DARK purple and black colors. we are paying for most of our wedding ourselves so any help is ALWAYS appreciated for our 5/30/10 wedding…Thanks for the great ideas
I would love to be entered in this contest! My Fiance and I have been going back and forth about whether or not we can afford a DOC, and this would be such a blessing. Our wedding is June 11, 2011, and we're planning all the details ourselves. We're having the reception in the worship center of my father's church, which has never been used for an event like this before. Figuring out how to run the buffet, as well as how to arrange a church building into a reception hall, is going to require a ton of help, and FI and I don't want to saddle our family members with too much responsibility– they should enjoy the day, too! One "fun fact" about our wedding is this: because we are both musicians, we are arranging some of our favorite musical pieces and songs for string quartet. We plan to open with some classical music, and our recessional will be "Happy Together," by The Turtles– and our first dance will be to Cake's cover of the 50s song "Strangers in the Night." Also, instead of having a ceremony dress and a reception dress, as some brides do, I'm having my dress made so that the bottom 12 inches or so are removable so it turns into a shorter dress for the reception!
hi! i'm getting married on june 19, 2010 — almost 2 years after my fiance and i met during a graduate school class in italy. amor!
Our wedding date is June 26, 2010. A fun fact about our wedding… we will be celebrating two things that day. Our marriage and my fiance graduating from college with his first degree! He started college at 27 and has been faithfully plugging along for the last 5 years. Oh, and thank you for this opportunity!
Our wedding date is October 9, 2010. We didn’t choose our date, we chose our venue and then asked what their first available Saturday was from mid-September on…October 9th was the first one. We are not going to sign our marriage certificate until midnight though, so our anniversary will be 10/10/10 (might as well use it, right?)
You won! Please email me at dana at brokeassbride.com to claim your prize!
Date of Wedding Reception: 8/13/11
Fun Fact: I will be having my wedding reception two months after my planned elopement. I love an eclectic mix of vintage, whimsy and ethereal details.
Pick us! Our wedding date is 10/8/10 and we met after my now fiance' was featured in Essence magazine!
