As a floral design studio owner, I have to remind brides on budgets…you get what you pay for. The flowers will rarely be of quality nor can a simple video instruction create a stunning bouquet. Most professionals spend years to perfect their craft. Obviously this option is for brides who really don't care about their flowers.
Larry, some brides care so much about their flowers that they don't trust a professional florist to do them right.
I went with a florist for my bouquet, the boutonnieres, and corsages but saved money by doing the centerpieces myself. I got the flowers from another company online. They showed up on time. My centerpieces turned out great. In this economy and for some brides, having fresh flowers is a luxury. Not the norm. I encourage anyone who wants to do their own flowers to go ahead. Make sure you have someone to help you and read up as much as you can. Also look for tutorial videos online. You can do it!
One more thing, I did the bridesmaids' bouquets and they were well liked. I practiced with artificial flowers over and over until I got the feel for putting the flowers together. When you have more time than money, it's definitely a great option.
