How Paco sourced our florist.
November 25th, 2008 by The Broke-Ass Bride
Our furbaby Paco is always trying to get into the wedding planning. It’s very sweet, but usually he just gets in the way, or knocks things over. You know, the whole lack of opposable thumbs can be a real inconvenience. But finally, he has made his mark on the wedding (pardon the dog-pun), and now he won’t stop gloating.
See how smug he is? Some time ago, we were on an early evening walk around the cul-de-sac near our house, when we met just the cutest little doggie, Ruby and her lovely mom, Sarah.
Ruby was near-death when she was rescued, isn’t she lovely?
Paco immediately started laying the mack on her, and Ruby was eating it up. All the while, us grown-ups got to know eachother, and hit it off quite nicely. On our walk back home, Sarah mentioned that she is starting an eco-friendly floral business called La Vie en Rose (so cute! and yay for a green wedding florist!). My spidey senses tingled.
Now we’re all fast friends, and Sarah is our wedding florist! I’m so excited because working with friends is the best possible scenario, and she’s super talented. Plus, her focus on eco-friendly florals is exactly what we were looking for, and she lives right down the street! How perfect, to have meetings about the floral design, while the puppies get a playdate.
Check out some of these gorgeous arrangements:
Before meeting Sarah, we had always thought we’d just do the flowers ourselves. But the task was kind of daunting and I secretly wished we’d stumble into an opportunity to use a professional. And stumble, we did! Now I get to have gorgeous, stress-free flowers, and a great new friend in the neighborhood. What could be better?
Have you ever found a vendor in a most unlikely moment?

You should thank Paco with a nice milkbone! that’s awesome. I love how dogs bring people together! Great choice in florist! Her creations are beautiful!
Wow! Not only a great story, but those examples are beautiful. I might just take my cat for a walk today & see what we can make happen.
Oh poor Ruby! I hope she is better now. Lovely flowers and well done, way to book your vendors while out on a walk! haha
way to go! Nice to have friends that can help out! BTW linked your site on mine
Love it!
How sweet. Maybe Paco needs his own special little bouquet as a thank you.
OMG!!! Paco is one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen (and this coming from a HUGE dog lover!!!)! Poor little Ruby. I am so glad someone adopted her!!! I love rescuers
Those are great arrangements. Congrats on finding a friend to do the work. Some of our family friends did our flowers and the labor ended up being our wedding gift and we paid almost nothing for our flowers. It was wonderful.
great story… and gorgeous flowers!! can’t wait to see how yours turn out! but please please please tell us all what kind of puppy paco is!! he is ADORABLE!!
Cute puppies!!
Oh, what would you have done without Paco? What a neat story!
paco is so freaking cute.
@Adrienne: now THAT’s something I’d love to see!
@One Woman Wedding Show: Thanks! I really appreciate the link
@LyndsAU: Wow, that’s quite a compliment! Thanks!
@Not Yet a Dr: He’s a Cavachon – half cavalier king charles spaniel, half bichon frise. Because he’s half bichon, he’s hypo-allergenic and doesn’t shed. He’s just a living muppet
What a sweet story. Paco is so cute . ..
Paco is adorable! And the flowers look like they will be amazing. What a cute story!
Fab story. Adorable dog. Gorgeous flowers. Thumbs up all round!
I actually just did a post that I’d be interested in hearing your opinion on miss BAB!
Poor Baby! Wishing Ruby a speedy recovery. Great floral deisgn. Wihing the best on your upcoming wedding.
All the Best,
Lisa
that’s AWESOME! I love when things happen like that. our entire wedding on Maui was planned and finalized by seemingly random interactions. A trip to starbucks scored us our photographer, a wrong way turn ended up in our venue discovery, etc. It was meant to be.
and thanks for stopping by My Maui Wedding!
This is such a cute story and the flowers are beautiful!
I LOVE the one with the white flower on the bottom. ooo…
